荒野洋子 1933年、北見市生まれ。

漢字は一字づつに意味があり、二字三字とあつまるとまた違った意味にもなり、子どもの頃から字を書くことは大好きでした。 筆を持っても、ペンを持っても、またはクレヨンでも、”かける石”と言われた石でも、何でも素材にすることが出来ます。

また紙はどんな紙質でも、木切れでも、布でも、拾って来た石や海辺で流れついた木片でも、書き溜めておくことが出来ます。 子どもの頃のそんな思いは91歳を迎えた今でも、ワクワクするものです。ましてや白い大きい紙、たっぷり墨を含んだ筆を持ったときの気持ちは いつも高揚しています。

YOKO ARANO

Born in Kitami in 1933.

Every “Kanji” (Chinese character used in one of the Japanese alphabets) has a meaning, and when two or three combine together it will create another meaning. Yoko Arano has loved calligraphy since she was a child. Not only writing with brushes but also pens, crayons, and even rocks, which could be a good tool to write with. Surfaces to write on can be of any kind ‒ a piece of paper, wood, cloth, or rocks that you have picked up. Even at 91 years old, she is still thrilled to remember what she used to think when she was a child. Especially when there is a large piece of white paper and she is holding onto a brush full of ink, she would feel the same excitement when she works on her art pieces.
